ABOUT CHILDREN'S DAY
Kids Day Walcheren Saturday August 17, 2024
For whom?
This Kids Day full of games and fun is completely free and intended for children from 4 to 12 years old. These children, whose parents live in Walcheren and receive social assistance benefits, receive two letters via Orionis. A first letter with the invitation and a few weeks before Kids Day a second letter with a wristband for your child(ren). These wristbands are only sent once and serve as an admission ticket, so keep them safe.
What is there to do?
That day, the sports complex will be converted into a children's paradise with lots of bouncy castles and games. Such as an obstacle course, laser tag, bumper football, sumo wrestling, free run course and a climbing tower. The children can also have their faces painted.
Food and drinks
Free food and drinks are provided all day (also for parents). We take into account different backgrounds regarding food (Halal). Upon arrival, the children receive a stamp card on which they can see which food they can get. Unlimited drinks are available all day.
Information market for parents
We also want to organize an information market for parents again this year. In one of the rooms of Sports Complex 'de Sprong', space is made for various stalls and information stands. We invite organizations that can provide information about available help for people living in poverty.
Supervision
The children are allowed to come and go freely all day long. Volunteers, first aiders and a diabetes nurse are present to supervise, but the ultimate responsibility remains with the parents/guardians. Younger children aged 4 to 7 years only have access if accompanied by an adult. They are therefore not allowed to leave the site alone once they are inside.
Organization
This day is organized by a group of volunteers. The Municipality of Middelburg, Orionis, Events Agency Qui Vive and various companies and organizations also provide their cooperation.
TO REGISTER
Have you received an invitation? Registration for this day is not mandatory, but it is very nice. This way we know how many children and parents we can count on. Would you like to register your child(ren) before August 7? Send an email to: info@kidsdagwalcheren.nl with the names and ages of your children.
Admission ticket
The letter you receive in August also contains a wristband for your child(ren). This is the admission ticket to Kids Day. Children aged 4 to 7 receive a red wristband and children aged 8 to 12 receive a blue wristband. Put this wristband on your child at home on the day of Kids Day and write your telephone number on it, so that you can be reached in case of emergency.
TIPS FOR THE DAY ITSELF
- Put the wristband on your child at home on the day of Kids Day and write your telephone number on it so that you can be reached in case of emergency. Make sure that your child wears comfortable clothing so that he or she can play and exercise comfortably. Pants with pockets is useful, in connection with the stamp card that the children receive upon entry and must keep with them. Shoes are taken off upon entry, so it is nice if the children wear socks. Upon arrival, your child will receive a bag in which he/she can keep all the belongings. Give your child(ren) a drinking bottle so that they can refill it. This bottle can be kept in the bag provided with the shoes and coat on the benches in the hall. Younger children aged 4 to 7 years only have access if accompanied by an adult. They are therefore not allowed to leave the site alone once they are inside. Please note that if you take photos or videos, they are only of your own children; there are also children present who are not allowed to be in the photo due to private circumstances.
The Kids Day is made possible by the Bettel Foundation.
